Yesterday, on September 13, it was announced that undefeated WBO International lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk would return to the action on October 8.
Today Berinchyk’s promoter Oleksandr Krassyuk announced the name of his fighter’s next opponent. The Ukrainian pugilist is going to face a 38-year-old Romanian Viorel Simion. He is an experienced boxer with 25 fights on his professional record. His last fight took place in April 2019, when he defeated Georgian Nika Kokashvili.
It was earlier reported that representatives for Ghana's Emmanuel Tagoe and Denys Berinchyk had started negotiations over the WBO title elimination bout.
As we reported earlier, on September 14, WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (30-0, 22 KOs) conducted an open workout on the eve of the upcoming title defense against the Ukrainian contender Serhiy Derevyanchenko (13-2, 10 KOs).
Charlo praised his preparation and promised to bring even more power in the ring for his next bout.
“My power is growing along with me. With some fights, you need to add more power and sometimes your power just naturally increases. I have gotten a lot stronger and a lot smarter, so I have been able to use my skills to go along with my power heading into this fight," he said.
