On February 22, Ukrainian boxer Denys Berinchyk will defend his WBO International lightweight title.
Berinchyk is expected to face Hector Edgardo Sarmiento. 26-year-old Argentinian has 22 fights on his professional record: 21 wins (14 KOs) and one loss. It will be Sarmiento’s first bout outside of Argentina.
It will be the third title defense for the former Olympian. In his last bout, Berinchyk defeated Patricio Lopez Moreno via unanimous decision.
As we reported earlier, after defending WBO International lightweight title on October 5, Berinchyk called out American boxers Gervonta Davis and Teofimo Lopez in his post-fight interview.
"For today, I'm interested in fights with Gervonta Davis and Teofimo Lopez, conky jerk who talks too much. I think he will lose to Richard Commey and will be interested in fighting me. Let him send a contract to K2, and I will gladly kick their asses," Berinchyk brashly claimed after the fight.
Meanwhile, Teofimo Lopez is preparing for a unification bout with Vasyl Lomachenko, which is expected to take place in mid-April-May.
