President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated that the country won the right to hold one of the following Invictus Games. This opinion was expressed by the head of state during a videoconference with Ukrainian athletes, his press service reported.

According to the participants of the Games, Ukrainians met Prince Harry in Australia and asked him to hold the next games in Ukraine; the member of the royal family replied that the question would be considered.

'I hope, as we agreed, you conveyed congratulations to him (Prince Harry, ed.) from me. And you reminded me that he promised me that one of the following Invictus Games would be held in Ukraine. We will not back down from this agreement ... As for me, now Ukraine and Ukrainians are one of the most unconquered nations of the world. And we won this right to hold the Games,' especially since we have such fighters and such real champions,' the head of state said.

The President congratulated participants of the Invictus Games, adding that they are 'the best, true face of Ukraine — strong, beautiful, patriotic.'

The President noted that he was pleased to recall last year’s meeting with members of the Ukrainian team who participated in the games in Canada.

'Then the Ukrainian team, the best one in the world won 14 medals. This year you have pleased us with 20 medals,' he noted, adding that the Ukrainian team won 22 medals, and two awards of archers went to the overall standings.

The Ukrainian national team completed its participation in the Invictus Games,  receiving 7 gold, 10 silver and 3 bronze medals.
