Ukraine won the first silver medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Mykhailo Romanchuk became the second in the 1500-meter freestyle swim, as Segodnya reported.

This is his second award at the 2020 Olympics.

A few days ago, Romanchuk also got a bronze medal in the 800-meter swim.

This is Ukraine’s sixth award at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Earlier, Ukrainian athletes received five bronze medals.

July 29, Mykhailo Romanchuk has won a bronze medal in men's 800m freestyle at 2020 Olympic Games.

Mykhailo Romanchuk said it took 18 years to win. “Since I was six when I started to swim and came to my coach Petro Nahirny, with whom I succeeded to reach all results. Of course, it will not happen without him,” the swimmer said.

As reported before, the two-time world champion in judo, 20-year-old Daria Bilodid, brought Ukraine the first medal of the Olympic Games in Tokyo - a bronze one.
