Ukraine opens its first honorary consulate in Azerbaijan

Ukraine has opened its first honorary consulate in Shemakha, Azerbaijan. This is stated by the press service of the Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan.

"On October 27, a solemn ceremony on the occasion of the appointment of the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Shemakha was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Azerbaijan," reads the message.

Mehrali Gasimov, an entrepreneur and a graduate of the Kyiv Institute of International Relations, who has held various positions at international companies such as SAP and DeGolyer & MacNaughton Corporation, has been appointed Honorary Consul.

It is noted that the consulate’s opening is a sign of the high dynamics of cooperation between the two countries.

As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine would open a new consulate general in Poland the following year.

"Ukraine seeks to provide its citizens with proper consular care, in particular Ukrainian citizens who are in the Republic of Poland. Therefore, I decided to open a new consulate general in Wroclaw, and I expect it to be open next year," he stated.
