The national football team of Ukraine is about to start its qualification path to the FIFA World Cup, which is supposed to take place in Qatar in 2022. The opponents will be the French who are the reigning world champions. The game is to kick off at Parc des Princes stadium in Saint-Denis at 9.45 p.m. Kyiv time.

In their last face-off  last autumn, Ukraine lost to France 1-7, and though it was justy a friendly, the Ukrainian fans may be still hurting. The French are definitely the favorites in the qualification group; but considering the changes and the development of the Ukrainian team since their last meeting, even the world champions might show some respect for their opponents.

As for the line-up of the Ukrainian team, head coach Andriy Shevchenko faces certain issues. Taras Stepanenko and Viktor Tsygankov will not be able to appear in tonight's game. Andriy Yarmolenko, the renowned leader of the squad is just gaining shape after his injury. However, if the Yellow Blues show some confident and skilled defense, they might count on a favorable outcome.
