In Bucharest, the teams of Ukraine and Austria played against each other in the third round of the Euro 2020 group stage.
Austria's Baumgartner knocked in a corner from captain David Alaba in the 21st minute, only four minutes after colliding head-to-head with Illia Zabarnyi at the other end of the pitch.
Baumgartner was then substituted in the 32rd minute, holding his head while leaving the field.
Austria finished second in Group C with six points and will next face Italy in London on Saturday. Ukraine are third with three points and could still qualify for the round of 16 as one of the four best third-place teams, but a goal difference of -1 is not in their favour.
Alaba played in the middle of a back three in the previous games, but he was at left back in a four-man defensive line here, supporting the attack with well executed crosses and corner kicks from both sides.
Ukraine's own key man, Yarmolenko, was played on the right side of attack directly up against Alaba but came off second best. The talented Ukraine forward was not prepared to track back enough and Alaba was able to make runs on the outside left, overloading the Ukraine right back Karavaev and allowing Sabitzer and Laimer to burst through in the inside left channel.
