Over the past competition day, Ukraine’s national Paralympic team won gold in table tennis and football.
Table tennis players Viktor Didukh, Mykhailo Popov and Maksym Nikolenko defeated their opponents from Germany, the UK and Sweden with the same score – 2:0.
Ukraine’s football squad celebrated victory in the final game as they defeated Iranians in the 7-on-7 football competition. It was a 1-1 tie before the extra time, but Ukrainians managed to grasp the victory from their opponents.
Swimmer Maryna Verbova is the one who brought her country the 100th medal at these Paralympic Games. She claimed bronze in her 50 m backstroke event.
With only one day left before the Summer Paralympics in Rio are over, Ukraine holds third place in the overall medal count. Chinese lead the way, next comes the UK.
