Head coach of Ukraine's national team Oleksandr Petrakov commented on the recent draw ceremony of the UEFA Nations League; as is known, Ukrainians will face Scotland, Ireland and Armenia. The press office of the Ukrainian Association of Football reported that on December 17.
"We never played with the national team of Ireland. With Scotland, our team will meet in the semifinals of the World Cup 2022 qualification playoffs. And we haven't met with Armenia for a while. That team has changed a lot. It started the qualification for the World Cup in Qatar successfully; however, something went wrong then. I believe it's going to be an interesting struggle. But if we want to get back to League A, we need to win in this group", Petrakov said.
I believe the boys will have the chance to play, and we'll get a chance to evaluate them in June when five fixtures are supposed to take place at a time. Two matchdays are slated for autumn. On May 21, the Championship of Ukraine will be over; we'll need to let the guys rest - maybe, four, five days. And then, we'll have a camp because, like I said, we'll need to play four games over a short period of time", Petrakov said.
As is known, the draw ceremony of UEFA Nations League took place in Nyon, Switzerland. In the new season of this competition, Ukraine will play in the second division again. The team's opponents will be Scotland, Ireland and Armenia. The first four rounds will be played in June 2022; the remaining two are slated for September 2022.
