UEFA Europa League's Qualification Round 3 is over, and two Ukrainian teams are in very different places based on its outcome; one was kicked out of the competition, and the other one managed to proceed to qualification playoffs.
Zorya Luhansk FC played the return leg in the fixture against CSKA Sofia. The first leg's score was 1-1, so every goal was vital for both of the sides. The Bulgarians held out there until the very end of the game, but Nazariy Rusin successfuly beat CSKA goalkeeper in one-on-one on the 90th minute. So, its 2-1 on the aggregate, and Zorya qualifies to the next stage of the tournament where it will face RCD Espanyol. The games will take place August 22 and 29.
Mariupol FC, on the other hand, had no luck with AZ Alkmaar. The first game played in Ukraine ended as a draw, and all had to be settled in the second leg. AZ focused on getting what they wanted and imposed a crushing defeat on their opponents; the 4-0 loss in the away game marked the end of Mariupol's performance in this season's UEFA Europa League.
