Zorya Luhansk FC played the opener of this season's UEFA Europa League. On Thursday night, the Ukrainian squad faced Buducnost Podgorica (Montenegro), as the teams started their performance in the competition's Qualification Round 2.
Zorya's Artem Gromov scored a double in the first half. In the second, the opponents managed to score one in return; but in the end, Levan Arveladze sealed the fate, making the final score 1-3.
A 1-3 win in the away game makes a great start for the Ukrainian team in this competition; the return leg is to be played in a week, as Zorya hosts Buducnost in Zaporizhya, southeastern Ukraine. In Qualification Round 3, Ukrainians could face either CSKA Sofia (Bulgaria) or Osijek FC (Croatia); the Bulgarian team won the first leg 1-0.
