Mariupol FC is about to stand against AZ Alkmaar in the game of Qualification Round 3 of UEFA Europa League. The game will take place at Chornomorets stadium in Odesa. The fixture is to begin at 8 p.m. Kyiv time.
Last season, AZ Alkmaar finished fourth in the Dutch championship - exactly like Mariupol did in Ukraine. This year, the Dutch team began to perform in Qualification Round 2 of UEFA Europa League; it defeated Häcken (3-0 on the aggregate). In the national championship, Arne Slot's team started with the victory, too, beating Fortuna Sittard 4-0. This means that in the new season, the Dutch have tasted no defeat so far - and did not allow a single goal.
Mariupol has not yet played in this European competition. So far, their new season in the Ukrainian Premier League has been not as successful as that of AZ; Oleksandr Babich's team lost to Kolos in Round 1, and then beat Oleksandriya FC, last season's bronze holder.
The Ukrainian team is about to have a tough test against a seasoned team from the Netherlands.
