Shakhtar Donetsk hosted Sheriff FC from Tiraspol in Round 6 game of the group stage of UEFA Champions League.

In the first half, the Mountaineers dominated on the pitch, shutting off the opponents; they kept the ball and created good chance to open the score. The ball hit the crossbar twice after the strikes landed by Solomon and Dodo. Eventually, Serhiy Kryvtsov managed to deliver a cross in the penalty area; then, Fernando turned around and hit the ball low, past the goalkeeper.

In the second half, Sheriff switched to the pressing tactics. The Moldovan team delivered some nice attacks. Shakhtar countered in a quite dangerous manner. Mykhailo Mudryk could have scored twice, as the chances emerged; however, it was not to happen. Instead, Boban Nikolov evened the odds, beating young Ukrainian goalkeeper Oleksiy Shevchenko who unexpectedly replaced the seasoned Andriy Pyatov in the final minutes of the game.

Thus, the Ukrainian team finished last in its group, failing to win at least one game.
