Monaco hosted the first leg of the UEFA Champions League qualification playoffs; Shakhtar Donetsk stood against AS Monaco.

Both rivals put up a decent fight on the pitch; a number of opportunities were created to open the score. However, it was up to the guest team to make it 0-1. Pedrinho played a combination with Manor Solomon and sent the ball into the net.

A couple of moments followed from the both sides, but goalkeepers stood their ground, and the score remained as it was. In the second half, Monaco once again closed in for a goal, but the ball hit the post. 

The return leg of the fixture will take place in Kyiv next week.

Earlier, we reported that forward of Ukraine's national team Roman Yaremchuk debuted in SL Benfica. He appeared on the pitch in the second half of UEFA Champions League qualification fixture against Spartak Moscow.

The Ukrainian replaced Goncalo Ramos; at the time, the Portuguese were leading the way. Yaremchuk helped Benfica secure the victory; he landed a shot, the ball ricocheted from Spartak's defender Samuel Gigot and ended up in the net.
