Ukrainian athletes Lyudmyla Luzan and Anastasia Chetverikova won silver medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in two-piece canoe rowing at a distance of 500 meters. Isport reported this.
Ukrainian canoeists became the winners in the qualifying and semi-final races. World champions from China came along with them.
Two couples met in the final again: China showed a powerful start, the Ukrainian women kept close. However, China managed to maintain its leadership. Luzan and Chetverikova did not concede second place to anyone. Bronze went to the Canadian deuce.
Earlier on August 6, Ukrainian athletes Lyudmyla Luzan and Anastasia Chetverikova got the right to compete in the semifinals of the 2020 Olympics in double canoe rowing at a 500 meters distance. Ukrainian women won the championship in the qualifying race with a time of 2: 01,156. They overtook their rivals from Hungary by more than a second, moving them to second place.
Later, on the same day, karate fighter Stanislav Goruna won a bronze medal in the weight category up to 75 kg. He lost the semifinal match to Italian Luigi Bus.
On August 5, Ukrainian athlete Anzhelika Terlyuga won a silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in karate.
Ukrainian athletes with gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games will get $125,000, $80,000 and $55,000 respectively.
