Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevhen Konoplyanka were one of the best players on the pitch in Konya yesterday, as Ukraine and Turkey played a 2-2 tie. Fatih Terim, Turkey’s coach said this at the after-match press conference.
‘Sometimes you fail to reach what was on your mind. In the first 45 minutes, I simply couldn’t believe it was my team. It felt like I never met them before. After the halftime, we managed to bring it on in the mid-field and we started playing better. Besides, it as really helpful that we returned one goal while losing 0-2 in the first half. Avoiding the loss is good, of course, but one has to win the home games’, Terim said.
'Konoplyanka and Yarmolenko surely were great today – especially when it came to attacking combinations and scoring goals. I talked to Andriy Shevchenko (Ukraine’s coach, - 112 International) before the game. After the game we gave each other a hug and congratulated each other on the result. Shevchenko was a very good footballer and I hope he will become a great coach. And I sincerely wish that our national teams made it to the final part of FIFA World Cup 2018,' the Turkish manager concluded.
