Ukraine’s No. 1 in tennis Elina Svitolina provided first medical aid to her opponent Mihaela Buzarnescu - right at the tennis court. The Romanian got her ankle injured and collapsed, with no doctors present at the scene, Tennis World USA reported.
Svitolina assisted Buzarnescu before the medics eventually appeared and escorted her away from the court.
After the incident, Svitolina asked the event organizers to provide the constant presence of the medical staff at such competitions. She wished her opponent a speedy recovery.
In May, Svitolina won the final match of the WTA tournament in Rome against Simona Halep from Romania. The first racket of Ukraine beat the first racket of the world and defended the title in Rome. For the victory in the tournament, Svitolina received over 500,000 Euros.
