Ukraine's top tennis player Elina Svitolina avoided giving any comments to a reporter of the Russian branch of Eurosport channel. The outlet's producer Maksim Yanchevsky reported that via Twitter

'Elina Svitolina refused to speak to Eurosport Russia on the court after the victory in Round 1 of the US Open. She said 'I'm sorry, I can't'  (in Russian) as she exited the court. In January 2018, everything was fine,' Yanchevsky wrote.

In his tweet, he put a like to the video where Svitolina speaks to a Russian reporter after her victory over Katerina Sinakova in the Australian Open.

In July, Svitolina refused to participate in Moscow River Cup; the organizers eventually said the Ukrainian was supposed to join the competition, but then she gave it up for political reasons.
