The fixtures of Australian Open's Round 2 took place. Ukraine's Elina Svitolina successfully passed this stage, beating American athlete Lauren Davis.
The Ukrainian defeated her opponent in the first set. In the second, Davis is leading the way 5:3, but Elina won thanks to the victory in a tie break.
In Round 3, Svitolina will stand against Spaniard Garbiñe Muguruza; the fixture will be played on January 25.
Earlier, Dayana Yastremska, Ukraine's prominent tennis player had a fixture with Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark. The opponents came toe-to-toe in Round 2 of the Australian Open.
In the first set, Dayana was very close to victory, leading the way 5:1. But she lost six games in a row, and Wozniacki's comeback followed in the second set - after Yastremska's initial advantage of 3:0. Previously, the Ukrainian defeated Slovenian athlete Kaja Juvan. It was a dominant victory for Yastremska, which resulted in a 6:1, 6:1 score, according to the tournament’s website. This let her make it to Round 2. In general, Dayana has confidently started the first Grand Slam tournament this year, beating her opponent by every measure. This is evidenced by the duration of the match, which made 56 minutes.
