No. 1 tennis player in Ukraine Elina Svitolina lost the game of semifinals of the tennis tournament in Dubai.
The opponent Belinda Bencic won the first Svitolina’s serve. As a result, the first set ended with a big difference 6:2. Svitolina began the second set with a bad serve as well, but after that, she pulled herself together and leveled the score during the game. In the final third set, both tennis players played very attentive and ended the game with a tie-break, where Bencic appeared to be a little bit better.
In the final, which Svitolina had been winning for two years in a row, Bencic would play with Petra Kvitova, who won Hsieh Su-Wei in other semifinals.
As we reported earlier, WTA refreshed the list of the world's top female tennis players. The current edition includes three athletes from Ukraine; the names of Elina Svitolina, Lesya Tsurenko and Dayana Yastremska are on the list, actually in the Top 40.
While Svitolina remains 7th and Tsurenko comes 24th on the ranking, 18-year-old Yastremska also made it to the upper part of the list - in particular, thanks to her bright triumph in the WTA Thailand Open.
