Swede Armand Duplantis has successfully broken the record of Ukrainian athlete Sergey Bubka in the outdoor high jump with a pole, which was set 26 years ago. This was reported by Interfax.
Duplantis conquered the height of 6.15 meters at the Diamond League stage in Rome and surpassed Bubka’s result (6.14 meters), set in 1994.
“Congratulations to Armand Duplantis for breaking my record! Amazing result! Happy for him and his parents. They are great people. And happy for athletics and sports in general that we have such a bright star for years to come. All the best and onward to new heights!” reads the message.
In February 2020, 20-year-old Duplantis set a world record in indoor jumping - 6.18 m.
As we reported earlier, on September 16, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina had her first match at the Italian Open 2020. She faced Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
Over the course of the match, Svitolina proved to be better in a technical aspect and defeated her rival in two sets - 6:3 and 7:6. It was Svitolina's first match in six months.
