Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina will play with top-ranked player of the world Australian Ashleigh Barty at the final of the WTA Tournament. The match will happen on November 3 at 1:30 p.m. Kyiv time as WTA reports.
According to the official website, Svitolina is seeking her first title since winning the WTA Finals at the end of 2018, in her first final of the 2019 season. Barty, meanwhile, has reached a Tour-leading sixth final of the year, and a title would tie her with Karolina Pliskova for a Tour-leading four trophies.
Barty is looking to become the second Australian champion at the WTA Finals following 1974 and 1976 winner Evonne Goolagong Cawley. The last time either a World No.1 or reigning Slam champion took the title was Serena Williams's 2014 victory.
The opponents have met on the court five times before and Svitolina won each match. The Ukrainian won the Australian three times in 2017, and once in 2018 and 2019.
During her way in the WTA Final Tournament 2019, Svitolina has won all the matches.
Earlier, the last game Svitolina played with Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic.
Ukrainian tennis player lost her first set (5:7) but won in the second (6:3) and kept the next set with the score of 4:1. But Bencic refused to continue the game. Thus, Elina Svitolina would play in the final.
