Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina did her best to secure the match of the 1/8 finals of the WTA tournament in Melbourne, Australia.
Svitolina faced Jeļena Ostapenko from Latvia, who was the one to win the first set. Nevertheless, Ukraine’s best tennis player showcased her skills and managed to get the victory by winning two other sets.
Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) - Olena Ostapenko (Latvia) 6:7, 6:3, 6:2.
She will now be facing Elise Mertens (Belgium) in the quarterfinals.
"It is always difficult with Ostapenko because she is constantly attacking, so you have to be prepared. I did not have enough energy in the first set, and I was upset with how I started the match. Then I just tried to keep the ball on the court and attack as much as possible,” said Svitolina.
