Svitolina out of Australian Open, loses to Osaka in quarterfinals

Ukraine's top tennis player Elina Svitolina lost the struggle fighting for the semifinals of Australian Open, the official website of the competition reported.

In the quarterfinals, Svitolina succumbed to the pressure of Naomi Osaka. The Japanese defeated her opponent in two sets (4:6, 1:6).

The game lasted for 1 hour and 10 minutes. At that, the story of faceoffs between the two athletes now makes a 3-3 tie.  

Earlier, Svitolina defeated Madison Keys in the Australian Open's Round of the Last 16.

It's the second time in a row that the Ukrainian leaves this particular competition at this stage. The Ukrainian only managed to make it to the quarterfinals, the result that she never surpassed before in the top level competitions.
