Svitolina beats Halep, reaches semifinals of WTA Final Tournament

Ukrainian secures victory in two sets (7:5, 6:3)

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina won her second match at the WTA Final Tournament in Shenzhen.

Elina faced fifth world racquet Simona Halep from Romania. Elina started confidently, winning three games in a row, but then allowed her opponent to even the score. But the end was behind Svitolina. The beginning of the second set came out to be intense, but Elina managed to come forward. She did not lose her advantage and secured a place in the semifinals of the WTA Final Tournament.

This is Svitolina's second victory in this Final Tournament with a score of 2-0. Ukrainian’s next opponent will be Bianca Andreescu from Canada, who will meet Svitolina on November 1.

As we reported earlier, Svitolina met Carolina Plishkova from the Czech Republic at the first match of the WTA Final Tournament in Shenzhen. 

The first set was intense as both players tried their best in order to secure it but Svitolina was able to snatch victory in the tiebreaker (7:6;14:12). The second set was not that nerve-racking for Ukrainian player who ended it with a 6:4 score.
