Ukrainian basketball player of the Los Angeles Lakers Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk played for his team for the first time in the regular season of the NBA.

Sviat spent 16 minutes on the parquet, made 2 pickups, 3 assists, 2 losses, and 2 fouls. Mykhailiuk tried to throw a three-pointer twice but did not receive his first points in the NBA.

As it was reported earlier, Ukrainian basketball player Sviatoslav Mykhailyuk signed the full-fledged contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Ukrainian got the chance to play for Lakers in the NBA Summer League after the 2018 draft; due to his decent performance in several games in a row, the team's management decided to keep him. Lakers offered him a three-years-long contract and the 4.6 mln dollar salary.
21-year-old Mykhailiuk has been playing in the U.S. since 2014 when he arrived in Kansas for studying. Initially, he joined the team of the University of Kansas. During his freshman season, he started five of the first seven games of the season, averaging 21.3 minutes a game, but his playing time since then was significantly curtailed. He scored 11 points while playing 32 minutes in the Orlando Classic Championship game against Michigan State on November 30, 2014. He was the youngest player in Big 12 Conference history at 17 years old.
Prior to playing at Kansas, he played for Cherkaski Mavpy in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague from 2012 to 2014. He also played for the Ukrainian national team at the 2014 FIBA World Cup. In June 2018, Mykhailiuk was selected with the 47th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Lakers.
