Zhan Beleniuk made the fans in Ukraine and abroad as happy as they could possibly be, collecting the first gold in these Olympic Games for his team and country. He triumphed in the Greco-Roman wrestling competition (weight category of up to 87 kilograms).
In the final fixture, Beleniuk faced Viktor Lorincz from Hungary. He defeated his opponent in a confident manner (5:1), claiming first gold medal for Ukraine's Olympic team.

Ukrainian Parviz Nasibov went toe-to-toe with Mohammad Reza Gerai from Iran (weight category of up to 67 kilograms). The Irainan proved stronger and more confident, beating the opponent (9:1). Thus, Nasibov took his first Olympic medal, and the second silver for his country in these Games.
