On February 27, Shakhtar Donetsk FC played against S.L. Benfica in the Europa League 1/16 finals.
After the defeat in Kharkiv, Benfica started the match aggressively and quickly opened the score – Pizzi scored the first goal at the ninth minute of the match. However, it was Benfica’s own Ruben Dias who made it even for the Ukrainian team and scored the own goal.
Nevertheless, Dias was able to make it right and scored the second goal for Benfica at the 37th minute, executing a perfect header.
The Portuguese club got another goal on its record only two minutes after the start of the second half.
But Shakhtar was not willing to give up the match easily. Stepanenko scored the second goal for the Miners at the 49th minute of the match.
And the score was evened by Alan Patrick 20 minutes later: an elegant shot got the ball into the Benfica’s goalposts and secured the place in Europa League 1/8 finals for Shakhtar Donetsk.
As we reported earlier, the head coach of Ukraine's national football team Andriy Shevchenko has no plans to head A.C. Milan.
