Russia's presidential press secretary gets coronavirus

Dmitriy Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President confirmed that he got infected with the coronavirus. Russian news agency TASS reported that on May 12. 

"Yes, I got sick", he replied when asked if they really detected coronavirus in him. "I'm undergoing treatment".

The official remains at a hospital. He said he personally contacted Putin more than a month ago.

Earlier, medics found out that coronavirus got to members of the Russian government and other officials. The list included Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of Russia; Olga Lyubimova, Russian Minister of Culture; Vladimir Yakushev, Minister of Urban Development, and his deputy Dmitriy Volkov.

As of May 12, there are more than 232,000 patients in Russia. Some 2,000 of those deceased.

In Moscow alone, there are over 120,000 cases.

Last month, Russian Premier Mishustin told President Putin that the government would keep on working as usual, and First Deputy Premier Andrei Belousov would be serving as the Acting Prime Minister, while Mishustin remains in self-isolation. The Russian leader approved Belousov's candidacy.
