The Russian Federation might be banned from participation in the 2020 Olympics. It is reported by The Sunday Times, citing its own sources.

Suspension from the Olympics might occur in connection with the situation around the high jumper Danil Lysenko, suspected of giving false information to drug testers about his whereabouts last year.

Representatives of the Russian Athletics Federation are suspected of deliberately concealing violations of the athlete.

At the moment, the Lysenko case is under investigation. According to media reports, if the charges are proved, the Russian Federation may again be removed from the Olympics.

Danil Lysenko was suspended from the competition from August 3, 2018.

In 2018, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has upheld the disqualification of the All-Russian Athletics Federation. The decision was taken by the IAAF Council at a meeting of Buenos Aires.

Russia must fulfill a number of conditions in order to restore its rights. In particular, it should compensate IAAF's expenses for doping testing.

In addition, Russian sports departments should provide access to the data of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory for 2011-2015.

The issue of restoring Russia will again be discussed in December 2018.

We recall that in November at a meeting of the IAAF Council its members decided to extend the suspension of the All-Russian Athletics Federation.
