Real Madrid is to host Shakhtar Donetsk in tonight's game in the Spanish capital; UEFA Champions League match will kick off at Santiago Bernabeu at 7.45 p.m. Kyiv time.
After three rounds, the team from Donetsk comes last in Group D. Shakhtar still has a chance to make it to the playoffs, though it's going to be extremely hard to make it happen.
Ukrainian teams have had a lot of trouble in the Champions League so far; Shakhtar and Dynamo Kyiv did not score any goals. Neither did they win a single game. Real, on the other hand, is not at its best in the home stadium. Besides, Los Blancos miss Rodrigo in the middle of the field.
Shakhtar also can't count on their midfielder, Pedrinho. However, Taras Stepanenko is quite likely to appear in the starting eleven. Alan Patrick is reportedly ready to show up, too.
Earlier, Dynamo Kyiv and Barcelona played the Round 4 game of the group stage of UEFA Champions League.
The Catalunyans took the ball early in the first half, but Kyivites showed some good defense and managed to set a few counter-attacks. Mykola Shaparenko was the first one who could have opened the score, but Marc-Andre Ter Stegen deflected the ball. Then, Clement Lenglet hit the post of the Ukrainian team.
In the second half, the guests kept the initiative, and their attacks started bringing fruit. Ansu Fati almost scored a penalty kick, but the referee watched the replay, using the VAR system and changed his mind. Later, Ansu managed to score one on his own after a successful cross from the right flank. Dynamo could have returned the favor, but Ter Stegen deflected Viktor Tsyhankov's shot. Benjamin Verbic and Illya Zabarnyi missed their shots, too.
