Three championships claimed in a row - and it's official: Real Madrid takes the European Champions' Cup home. The spectacular football night became history, and the Spaniards claimed their 13th championship within this tournament, winning in the three consecutive seasons. Ukrainian football fans had a special reason to wait for this game: the game took place at NSC Olimpiysky, Ukraine's leading sports arena that previously hosted the final of another top football competition, UEFA Euro 2012.

Los Blancos stood against Liverpool, which showed a tremendous performance in this season. The British actively sought ways to score early in the first half, with Real defending really well - and counterattacking sharply. Each team lost a player due to serious injuries, with Salah and Carvajal leaving the pitch in tears. However, the first half was nothing but rich in goals.

In the second, the sitiation changed dramatically. The Reds lost first, when goalkeeper Karius allowed a rude mistake and let Benzema score. All the French had to do was to push the ball in the empty goals behind Karius's back. Liverpool equalized immediately, as Mane made the score 1-1.

And then, Zinedine Zidane, Real's head coach, made a substitution, which eventually sealed the fate of the game. The Welsh Garreth Bale, once the world's most expensive football player, appeared on the pitch and scored almost immediately.

Liverpool fought fierecely and stubbornly; Karius managed to save his team several times, but another loss of control of the ball costed him another goal. Bale scored once more, and Karius simply couldn't keep the ball in his hands safely. This eventually made the score 3-1, and the Spaniards celebrated well-deserved victory in the Champions League 2017-2018.
