A racist scandal occurred during a football game between Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk. The incident took place in Kharkiv on November 10, as Dynamo fans verbally attacked Brazilian players from the opposing team.
Eventually, Taison, the midfielder of the Mountaineers lost it and flipped the fans off. The referee sent him off and stopped the game to calm down the tension. Taison burst into tears as he left the arena.
Later, the Brazilian left the following post on Instagram: "I will never shut up in the face of such inhumane and pathetic act. My tears were those of outrage, unacceptance and helplessness, as I could do nothing at that moment. But we early learn to be strong and we're ready to fight. To stand for our rights and equality. My role is to fight, walking with my head up, and keep struggling at all times. Not being a racist is not good enough in a racist society; we've got to be anti-racists. Football needs more respect, and the world needs more respect. We continue to fight. No to racism!".
Both teams publicly condemned the manifestation of racism. The incident will be now investigated by the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Ukrainian Premier League.
