President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko thanked UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin for banning the official football matches in occupied Crimea. He said this during the meeting with UEFA president in Kyiv, president press-service informs.
“Head of State noted the fundamental position by UEFA to ban the official football competitions in Russian-occupied Crimea and urged UEFA president to stick to this decision in future. Aleksander Ceferin assured that this decision would not change” – Administration of the President stated.
Poroshenko also thanked UEFA for financial support in the social integration of internally displaced children in Ukraine in terms of cooperation with the Children’s Fund of UEFA.
Earlier, Shakhtar Donetsk won the match with KAA Gent, which sent them to the competition’s playoffs.
