Andriy Shevchenko, the main coach of Ukraine's national team shared his expectations from the start of his team at Euro 2020. UEFA official website cited him as saying.

"I am looking forward to the start of Euro 2020. As am ex-player, I had a taste of what the big events look like - the European championship, and the world championship, which I participated in. I had a chance to evaulate it in comprehensive manner, in particular, as a coach. I believe that young players who have not yet participate in such tournaments pay a great deal of attention to what they tell them. It's pivotal to train the footballers mentally before such tournaments. And in general, I gather, it will be a great festival for them - and for the fans, of course", he said.

"Our main goal is to pass the group stage. We understand there are really good teams playing agasinst us. There's a real favorite in our group, and it's the Dutch national team. Austria is the team that put up a great qualifying tournament, playing really well. There are strong players there, and the team has a certain style, thanks to which ut enjoys the result. North Macedonia is a quite decent team, too. Qualification games of the European championship and the victory over the national team of Germany. One surely can't dismiss a team like that", Shevchenko added.

According to the coach, "we have our own style, and we're not going to drop it. We always live up to pur principles. Over the last year, we definitely became more flexible in terms of tactics. We can change the system of the game but we stay true to our principles. We can correct the system while looking for a personal approach to every opponent. It could be 4-3-3, or 3-5-2, but there's no way that the game principles will be changed. I was very pleased after the game with France, with how the team took the tactical changes, but then, we also had some games where we failed to convert our chances. We need to work on that aspect", Shevhenko said.

Ukraine will play its UEFA Euro 2020 opener on June 13. The game against the Netherlands will take place in Amsterdam. The Ukrainian team is already in Bucharest; this is where they will reside during the tournament.
