The Olympic flame of the 2018 Winter Games that will take place in Pyeongchang, South Korea was lit during the traditional ceremony at ‘Olympic’ stadium in Greece as ABC News reported.

The Greece actress Katerina Lechou lit the flame in front of the Temple of Hera build 2 600 years ago. She passed the torch to the first participant of the relay Greece skier Apostolos Angelis who already obtained a license in Pyeongchang.

The length of the rout of the Olympic symbol in Greece is 219 kilometers and the torch should arrive in Acropolis of Athens on October 30.

The fire will arrive in South Korean on November 1 and the national relay of the Olympic flame will start.

The fire will be passed through 17 cities and counties of the republic, 7 500 torchbearers will participate in the marathon. The total length of the route is 2018 kilometers.

The Olympic Games will take place from February 9 until February 25 in South Korea. 99 awards suits in 15 disciplines will be competed.
