Twenty-year-old Ukrainian judoka Daria Bilodid, who won the first bronze medal for the Ukrainian national team at the Tokyo Olympics, is about to take a pause in her career. This was stated by her father and coach Hennadiy Bilodid, Suspilne reports.
"I think the rest will be two, three, four, six months - it will be seen by her condition. And when she rests and feels that there is a desire, then you can start a little bit," he said.
The athlete's father explained that such a decision was caused by Daria's exhaustion after a difficult period of preparation for the Olympics: she was supposed to move to a heavier category, but due to the postponement of the competition for a year, she had to starve and keep fit.
As we reported earlier, Ukrainian fencer Ihor Reizlin became the bronze medalist of the 2020 Olympics in individual epee.
In the semifinals, Reizlin lost to the Frenchman. On the way to bronze, Reislin defeated Swiss Benjamin Steffen (15:11) and Max Heinzer (15:12). And in the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian was stronger than the Egyptian Mohamed Elsayed – 15:13.
The Ukrainians Bogdan Nikishin and Roman Svichkar also competed in this discipline, but lost in their 1/16 finals.
