Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, accompanied by his team, arrived in Chicago, where he will make his debut in the heavyweight division against Tyrone Spong.
Ukrainian boxing October in the US continues. After Sergiy Derevyanchenko’s controversial loss to Gennady Golovkin, Ukrainian fans are shifting their attention to Oleksandr Usyk, who is expected to make his anticipated heavyweight debut against the Dutchman of Surinamese origin Tyrone Spong.
The former undisputed cruiserweight boxing champion was training in the United States. Last week, Usyk’s team completed a training camp. And now Usyk has arrived in Chicago, where his heavyweight battle will take place on October 12.
As we reported earlier, besides successful debut in a new weight category, there is a title contention opportunity guaranteed in case of Usyk’s victory on October 12. Usyk was installed as the WBO's mandatory heavyweight title challenger during his layout, so if Usyk wins, he will maintain his position as a future challenger for the winner of the Dec. 7 rematch between unified titlist Andy Ruiz Jr. and former titlist Anthony Joshua.
