2012 Olympic gold medalist for Ukraine and former undisputed cruiserweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk said that many people had dissuaded him from going to heavyweight because of his small size for the division. However, according to him, such words only motivate him to go forward, Isport.ua reports.
"Many people are telling me: "You should not go there, you are not a natural heavyweight and you are small. You will not succeed". Throughout my life, I have heard from many people that I will not make it. But it is not possible only for those who are not trying, I will not be listening to those who tell me ‘not to do this”. On the contrary, I will do it and I will definitely succeed because I believe in it", - Usyk said.
The debut fight of Oleksandr Usyk in heavyweight will be held on October 12. The rival of the Ukrainian will be unbeaten Tyrone Spong (14-0 13 KOs), who said that Usyk could become a “horror” of heavyweight.
It was reported earlier that all tickets for the upcoming match, planned in the United States, are almost sold out.
