There were some talks on potential cancellation of the unification bout between Vasyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez. However, boxing promoter Bob Arum expects the fight to take place in September, ESPN reports.
"That is going to be one of our September cards, where we are going to be open to, hopefully, spectators," Arum stated.
He is guardedly optimistic that by this time there will be a limited amount of fans let into sporting events.
The fight was initially scheduled for May 30, but the coronavirus pandemic shut down all the boxing events. Nevertheless, the boxing industry is coming back with stacked cards this June.
As we reported earlier, Ukraine's Viktor Postol will get his shot at WBC and WBO unified light-welterweight champion Jose Ramirez in mid-July after the bout got canceled twice.
"Unified 140-pound champion Jose Ramirez told Sports Illustrated that he will begin training camp this week with an eye towards rescheduling a twice-canceled title defense against Viktor Postol in mid-July,” journalist Chris Mannix reported.
