Current WBA, WBO and WBC lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko finally gets his opponent for a potential unification bout in the division. Teofimo Lopez won the IBF lightweight title in his 15th professional fight on Saturday evening as he stopped Richard Commey in just two rounds.
Loma, however, also mentioned another potential opponent – Gervonta Davis, who had already showcased his desire to fight Ukrainian champion.
Lomachenko admitted that was willing to fight both Lopez and Davis within the next 12 months.
Asked if he wants to fight Lopez, Lomachenko told ESPN: “Yes, of course”.
As we reported earlier, ex-world champion in super-featherweight division American Gervonta Davis commented on a potential duel with Ukrainian lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko in a quite defiant style, Segodnya informed.
“Lomachenko? His time is coming to an end, but mine is not,” Gervonta said.
“I believe that our fight will take place, but at the right time. No offense. I respect his achievements, but I do not respect the fact that he is being extolled. He has achieved nothing in this world. He has fourteen fights and he is already a franchised champion,” he stressed.
