The Federation of Football of Ukraine applied to host the final game of UEFA Super Cup 2021 in Kharkiv. The official UEFA website posted it on Thursday.

The match will mark the start of the 2021-2022 football season in Europe.

The other contestants to host this football game are Minsk, Helsinki, and Belfast.

Kharkiv's venue, Metallist Arena opened in 1926. In 2007, it was reconstructed so that it could host the matches of Euro-2012 held in Ukraine and Poland. Its current capacity is 40,000 seats.

The Dutch national team played three games on this pitch, as it was a 'home arena' for the Netherlands during the competition. In 2016, the stadium was rented by Shakhtar Donetsk that has been playing its home games here since then.

As is known, Ukraine hosted UEFA Champions League in this season - for the first time in the country's history. UEFA said it was satisfied with the level of organization.
