IBF, IBO, WBA, and WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and his team are now in talks with Oleksandr Usyk for the potential delay of his WBO mandatory challenge, DAZN reports.
Joshua expects to get a pass from Usyk in order to face the fellow champion, Tyson Fury, for a title of an undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, which is expected to be the biggest fight in the history of British boxing.
“I think Usyk will be keen to step aside and let the fight happen. We have reached out to his management team. He is a reasonable person and he will understand the magnitude of this situation,” said Joshua.
If Usyk decides to spoil the plans for the Joshua-Fury showdown, the WBO belt will be vacated. Then, Usyk will probably face unbeaten Brit Joe Joyce, who is currently ranked 2nd in the WBO ranking.
As we reported earlier, Teofimo Lopez Jr. (16-0, 12 KOs) is not willing to face his former nemesis Vasyl Lomachenko inside the ring once again.
“Because I am going to be a d***. And because everyone was being a d*** to me and my father," he emphasized.
