The International Olympic Committee allowed athletes from North Korea to participate in the Winter Olympics in South Korean Pyeongchang. This is reported by Reuters.
"Following the IOC meeting that was held on Saturday in Lausanne, it was announced that North Korean athletes will perform in cross-country and downhill skiing, short track and figure skating, and South and North Korea will form - for the first time in history - the united national women's hockey team. At the opening ceremony of the Olympics, athletes from the DPRK and South Korea will be together under the same flag, "the IOC said in a statement.
It is expected that 22 athletes from the DPRK will come to the Games in South Korea. The delegation will also have 24 functionaries and 21 journalists.
As you know, earlier North Korea stated that in February it would send athletes and a high-level delegation to the Winter Olympic Games in South Korea. The Winter Olympics will be held in South Korean Pyeongchang from 9 to 25 February.
