National team of Ukraine received the third award at the Invictus Games in Toronto (Canada): silver medal in the race for 400 meters was won by police officer Olexandr Tkachenko. This is stated in the message on the team's Facebook page.
Olexandr Tkachenko, 29, from Chernihiv, National Police of Ukraine officer, received "silver" at a distance of 400 m. By his example, he proves that wounds are not a reason to refuse to play sports. Moreover, this is an opportunity to begin to deal with the problems," the author writes.
The winner was already congratulated in Facebook by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who wrote: "The second consecutive victory in the running competitions for our national team at Invictus Games Toronto 2017. I congratulate Olexandr Tkachenko, who won silver!"
Earlier it was reported that the first gold medal to the team was brought by Oleh Zymnikov in the run for 1500 meters.
"The the first gold, Oleh Zymnikov won the race. Before the Games, Oleh said he was confident that Ukraine has every chance of winning Invictus Games. So it is," the message said.
It is noteworthy that this is not the only joyful moment for the Ukrainian National Team in the Invictus Games. A former soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and now - Lieutenant of the National Police Serhiy Torchynsky won a bronze medal in athletics discipline of shot put (6 kg, category IF4).
The Invictus Games is an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event, created by Prince Harry of Wales, in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in sports.
