The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has upheld the disqualification of the All-Russian Athletics Federation. The decision was taken by the IAAF Council at a meeting of Buenos Aires, writes Deutsche Welle.

Thus, at the European Championships in German Berlin on August 6-12, Russian athletes will be able to perform only under a neutral flag.

Only those who are not involved in doping fraud will be admitted to the competition.

"Progress has been made in a number of important points, but some gaps still need to be liquidated," said IAAF President Sebastian Coe.

It is known that Russia must fulfill a number of conditions in order to restore its rights. In particular, to compensate the expenses of the IAAF in connection with the case of doping.

In addition, Russian sports departments should provide access to the data of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory for 2011-2015.

The issue of restoring Russia will again be discussed in December 2018.

We recall that in November at a meeting of the IAAF Council its members decided to extend the suspension of the All-Russian Athletics Federation.

The Federation was temporarily deprived of membership in the IAAF in November 2015 following a report by the World Anti-Doping Agency commission led by Richard Pound.
