Ukrainian boxer Viktor Postol hopes that he will finally get a chance at the world championship with a bout against WBC and WBO champion Jose Ramirez being postponed twice due to the infamous coronavirus pandemic, Boxing Scene reports.
“Obviously I cannot tell you that I am confident that it is gonna happen because two times it was already rescheduled, but things happen. And this year things happened differently. But I am preparing for the bout. I am pretty sure that everyone in the boxing world wants to see this fight and I hope that everything plays out well and we will see each other in the ring in August,” Postol said.
The former champion has once again confirmed his focus on the task in hand with the bout steadily approaching.
“My number one motivation today is to prove that a lot of people are wrong and become a world champion. That is the main goal in my career - I want to become a two-time world champion - and it does not matter what belt it is. I just want to become a world champion. Of course, I want to fight in big fights, I want to fight for good money, but that is not the main thing for me. For me, the most important thing is to become the world champion for the second time,” he added.
As we reported earlier, Postol and Ramirez were initially scheduled to fight on February 1, but the coronavirus outbreak in China prevented it from happening.
