Head coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko commented on his team’s victory over the national team of Portugal, Football 1 channel reports.
“First of all, I keep my promises. I congratulate all of the Ukraine. I promised that the team would qualify and go to Euro-2020. I think the team was able to stand for the last 15 minutes just because of the support of our tribunes. The guys know how many people cheer for the football now, for the national team. I believe this is an extra motivation for each of them.
I want to thank the journalists. I am pleased because we work in one direction. We have opened the door; Ukraine knows what is going on with the team, what the guys really are going through. They show up and they give everything they have. I think if everyone shows that kind of an attitude, the support will always be there.
I want to thank the team. Today I saw 11 lions fighting to the end. I thank them because it was not easy. Three years ago, we came and dramatically changed everything. They liked the idea, they fell in love with it. We will continue to do so”.
As we reported earlier, Ukraine's national football team hosted Portuguese's national team in Kyiv, at the NSC Olimpiyskiy. It was the match of the qualifying round of the European Championship, which takes place in 2020.
