As WTA Singapore tournament is over, the winner Elina Svitolina shared her impressions with the press.
'It’s amazing. I’m very, very pleased with the performance this week. I’ve proved a lot of things to myself and to (other) people, that I can play well. This means the world to me. There were nerves but I was trying to fight for every ball and I think that made the difference in the end. I really had to play my best tennis to win today', she said as quoted by BT Sport.
As is known, the Ukrainian beat Sloan Stephens in the WTA Singapore final match on Sunday (3:6, 6:2, 6:2). The American led the way in the first game, but Svitolina got her act together and fought back, winning the remainder of the match.
This was Svitolina's fourth triumph in the WTA final tournament in 2018. Previously, the Ukrainian player won tournaments in Brisbane, Dubai, and Rome. In total, Svitolina played in 14 WTA tournament finals and lost only two of them.
The Ukrainian's triumph in Singapore brought her back to the top five of WTA ranking. Currently, she is ranked fourth.
