Hockey Club Donbass wins in second round of Continental Cup

In the decisive match of the tournament, Donetsk team gave the fans a dramatic victory over Latvian Mogo in the penalty shot series. The whole game took place on an absolutely extraordinary level of dedication and tension.

The first period did not reveal the winner, the “0-0” score looked very cheerful as the game progressed. Mogo was putting on some pressure but Donbass was able to deal with the pace.

In the second period, it was Ukrainian team who was leading the score and claimed its title demands.

But everything changed by the second half of the third period when Mogo managed to score twice in a short period and three minutes before the end of the main time it was Ukrainian club that had to play back. However, Mazur was able to even the score and brought the game into overtime period, which eventually came to a penalty shot series, where Ukrainians were stronger.

It is worth mentioning Oleksandr Vasilyev’s winning shot, and goalkeeper Stepan Goryachevsky’s effort to tilt Mogo’s fifth attempt, which led Hockey Club Donbass to the third round of the Continental Cup.
